Debt Free!!

We finely paid off the debt…..Now What? I feel like we have written a lot about this but this has been a topic Bethany and I have been Praying and talking through. We have spent the past 8 years and 11 months working on paying off the almost $70,000 debt. To top that off, the past 11 months, it has been the our primary objective to pay off the last $26,000. Well as of Tuesday, August 25, 2020 we are free of all our debt other then our mortgage. So Now What?

James 4:13-17 (NASB)

13Come Now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” 14Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. 15Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.” 16But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil. 17Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.

This was part of the passage we went over in our Bible Study group (YABS,) on the Thursday before we paid off the debt. Once again God showed He is in control and has a master plan for us. Bethany is working on a post about this passage and how we are working on applying it in our family, but just a quick note about it from me.

Looking back over our previous post I noticed a lot of “I am going to do this” or “this is what we are going to do”. There is something blatantly missing for our words, but more importantly miss from our plans.

This last week we have tried to add “If the Lord wills,” to our plans, prays and mentally grasp that.

In a way the actual paying off of the debt was kinda anticlimactic. Spoiler alert…. That is all my fault. We had a great plan to celebrate the whole evening. We started out by ordering Buffalo Wild Wings, Tuesday are BOGO traditional wings! After we were done eating and washing up, wings are messy especially with a beard, we sat down and did the budget for next month to make sure we had all the money straight. This took longer then it should have and our patients were getting strained. This is understandable since the night was all about paying off the debt.

We finely got the budget set and were ready for “The Button Push!” I signed on to the account and was getting it all set up. I set the cursor over the button so Bethany and Lydia could push the button while I took a picture. It was then I realized I had went one screen to far and already paid the bill off and the button I was over was the “close” button from the confirmation screen. I’m not going to lie this deflated our sails a little. I did take pictures of Lydia and Bethany pushing the close button, but it just wasn’t the same. Bethany was still able to burn a copy of her diploma and I got a video of that!!!! That was pretty satisfying.

When I woke up Wednesday I was expecting life to be glorious and to have a freeing feeling. It didn’t happen. This past week I’ve been praying about and struggling with where to pull back and where to push. Well, “If the Lord wills,” we have lowered our weekly money making goal by $200, this allowed me to be home almost 15 more hours. “If the Lord wills,” we are going to the Fischer Family Camp Out 2020 this weekend, we spent some of my home time converting a 14’ covered trailer into a rustic camper and “If the Lord wills,” this will be our maiden voyage. “If the Lord wills,” in two weeks we will go to the Chaney / Rohrer Reunion 2020. “If the Lord wills,” we will be able to add an outdoor shower to the camper. “If the Lord wills,” we will go camping in Southern Indiana October 4th-7th, for our 9 year anniversary, this will be what they call boon-docking. That means no electricity and no running water. We hope to add a 2 battery power supply, generator, water storage, lp heater, and possible a solar panel to the camper for this trip.

“If the Lord wills,” our family will have lots of adventures Praising God and Dancing Together. God has bless us greatly in the almost 9 years of our marriage. With His Help we have been able to accomplish an amazing feat, paying off almost $70,000 in 8 years and 11 months, paying off the last $26,000 in the past 11 months. As we continue to share, we will show you other ways He has blessed us, sometimes just when we needed it, others times even when we didn’t. Life hasn’t always been peachy-keen in our marriage, if you don’t believe me just ask Bethany, she has had to put up with me:), but the one constant in our marriage is Gods love and will for us. I challenge you to put your trust in God, to seek His will for your life. It will not always be easy but I guarantee you will be fulfilled and find your purpose though Him. “If the Lord wills,” what are you going to accomplish in your life?
